Healthy Mashed Potatoes Recipe

This mashed potatoes recipe is super easy to make. It features russet potatoes, heavy cream, milk, butter, salt and pepper, and fresh parsley.

  • 24 oz russet potatoes 4 small, peeled and cut into 1-inch chunks
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup plain whole milk
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley


  • Place potatoes in a large pot with enough water to cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium and cook partially covered for 20 minutes or until the potatoes are totally soft and can easily be pierced with a fork. Drain water completely.
    Step 1: Boil the potatoes
  • Mash potatoes with a masher or ricer until smooth (you can pass the mashed potatoes through a sieve to make it even smoother.)
    Step 2: Mash potatoes
  • Return the mashed potatoes to the pot. Turn the heat on low. Add butter, milk, heavy cream, salt, and pepper. Stir constantly for about 2 minutes.
    Step 3: Cook and season
  • Turn off the heat. Transfer to a serving platter. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve.
    Step 4: Serve
