Turmeric with its bright earthy taste might not sound very drinkable, but with our turmeric drink recipe, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. Perfect for both wellness and refreshment, this is a beverage you won’t want to miss out on.
Health Benefits
Curcumin, an antioxidant contained in turmeric, is responsible for most of turmeric's health advantages, including its ability to reduce inflammation and oxidative conditions, as well as its healing abilities.
Turmeric may also be therapeutic for chronic illnesses where inflammation begins to harm body tissues.
Best Time to Take Turmeric
When it comes to drinking turmeric juice, there is no set period of time that you must adhere to. However, we advocate consuming it first thing in the morning with a balanced breakfast.
Furthermore, because turmeric's curcumin is fat-soluble, you can drink it when having a high-fat meal to aid digestion.
Don't feel like this is the only turmeric drink you can have, however. Switch things up every once in a while for a less repetitive, more exciting experience with a few of our other turmeric juice recipes, such as: Turmeric and Lemon Juice, Carrot Turmeric Juice , and Orange Turmeric Juice.
Main Ingredients
Here are the main ingredients for today’s turmeric drink recipe:
- Turmeric: We used ground turmeric, which comes in powder form. It can easily be found in most retailers like Walmart or Whole Foods.
- Warm water: Although ground turmeric does not dissolve in water, mixing it with warm water can help prevent clumping.
- Honey: You only need a small amount of honey to enhance the flavor and make the earthy scent of turmeric less overwhelming.
- Lemon juice: We like to add a dash of lemon juice to our drinks for a hint of citrus.
Substitute for Ground Turmeric
Since this is a turmeric juice recipe, obviously you can’t substitute the main ingredient — turmeric, with anything else. That being said, you can use raw turmeric instead of ground turmeric; it’s going to take a few extra steps, though.
Storing and Freezing the Leftovers
Since this turmeric juice isn’t anything like your typical fresh fruit juice, it may last longer—possibly a week in the fridge. Before you store, allow your leftover juice to cool and transfer it to an airtight jar or container.
Alternatively, you can also freeze the drink by putting it in freezer-safe containers and keeping it for a month or two. If you want to defrost it, let it thaw slowly in the fridge overnight.
Since this turmeric juice tastes better warm, we recommend microwaving it for 1 or 2 minutes to warm it up.
