Benefits of Carrot Turmeric Juice
All of the benefits that this carrot turmeric juice recipe brings are largely down to its main ingredients.
Benefits of Carrots
Carrots are vitamin and mineral-dense. A half-cup of carrots may provide up to 73% of your daily vitamin A requirement—one of the most abundant sources of vitamin A among commonly eaten vegetables. This vitamin is necessary for eye health and may help prevent disorders such as cataracts and age-related macular degeneration.
Additionally, carrots' high vitamin C concentration promotes the formation of antibodies that defend your immune system and aid in disease prevention. A strong immune system is your greatest defense against any sickness or condition, including cancer.
Benefits of Turmeric
Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful anti-inflammatory compound that can help reduce inflammation throughout the body. This makes it an effective remedy for a wide range of conditions, from arthritis and joint pain to digestive issues and skin problems.
Moreover, it can help stimulate the production of bile, which is necessary for digestion, and can also help reduce bloating and gas.
Ingredients You Will Need
The ingredients for our carrot turmeric juice recipe are as follows:
- Ground turmeric: We prefer to use ground turmeric as it requires no preparation and is easier to find in supermarkets and grocery stores. Don't worry, it will taste just as good as the fresh ones, with a lesser, more pleasant intensity.
- Carrots: Fresh carrot juice forms the base of this drink, giving it a vibrant, distinctive earthy sweetness.
- Oranges: A few juiced wedges of orange give the drink a fresh citrusy, zesty brightness.
- Warm water: We found that this drink is much more enjoyable when served warm. Also, warm water dilutes the earthy taste of ground turmeric, making it easier to drink.
- Honey: Honey is the best sweetener as it is high in antioxidants. We only need two tablespoons of honey for this recipe as the carrots are already lightly sweet.
- Ice: If you're not a fan of warm drinks or want to make this drink much more thirst-quenching, simply add a few ice cubes.
Is Turmeric Good for Juicing?
You can juice a whole piece of raw turmeric, but that might not be such a great idea.
Turmeric roots are quite fibrous, making it hard to extract their juice. Furthermore, juicing hard and fibrous ingredients like turmeric roots may damage your regular home juicer.
In addition, fresh turmeric juice tends to leave quite an unpleasant bitter taste on your palate, severely detracting from the overall experience of drinking a healthy juice.
What Happens If You Drink Turmeric Juice Every Day?
Drinking turmeric juice daily may not bring any adverse effects to your health as the juice contains only 1.1 g of ground turmeric per serving. However, too much of anything is too much, so we recommend switching it out every other day for other beverages, both to diversify your nutritional intake as well as keep the palate from feeling repetitive.
How to Store the Leftover
- In the fridge
Any leftover carrot turmeric juice should be refrigerated immediately to avoid spoilage. This juice can last for up to 2 days. We recommend keeping it in an airtight bottle to ensure freshness and delay spoilage.
- In the freezer
Leftover juice can also be kept in the freezer to expand its shelf life to a month. Be sure to store the juice in a Ziploc bag or freezer-safe container. Make sure that you thaw it in the microwave and heat it before drinking.
