Today we would like to give you this simple pomegranate blueberry juice recipe.
We’ve combined tart pomegranate with juicy, lightly sweet blueberries to create this refreshing drink. You may think this is a simple drink, but the flavor is anything but simplicity.
Besides the two main fruits, we also add lemon juice, sugar, and a touch of rosemary as a surprise factor.
The lemon juice and sugar balance out the tartness of pomegranate. And at the same time, the rosemary gives the drink a hint of aroma that puzzles your guests.
Here are a few facts about today’s drink.
Is Pomegranate Blueberry Juice Recipe Healthy?
Yes, our pomegranate blueberry juice recipe is healthy.
Every one of our recipes adheres to our healthy eating guidelines, which we built based on the USDA’s dietary guidelines.
According to the USDA, you should only consume less than 10% of calories per day from added sugar. For example, if you plan to consume 2100 calories a day, you should consume less than 210 calories from sugar.
That is equivalent to about 50 grams, or 12 teaspoons of sugar.
We limit the amount of added sugar by using as little sweetener in the recipe as we can. In addition, we pair the tart pomegranate with sweet blueberries to give the drink a natural sweetness.

Tips for Making:
1. How to Cut a Pomegranate
Some people may think pomegranate is a tricky fruit to cut, but it’s actually not. Here’s a detailed demonstration on how to cut a pomegranate:
- Using a sharp knife, cut off the stem end of the pomegranate. This will reveal its natural sections.
- Notice the shallow ridges that run from the sections at the top of the pomegranate to the bottom. Take your knife and make shallow cuts following the sections and ridges.
- Hold the fruit over a large bowl and gently pry open the pomegranate with your fingers. Once you’ve opened the fruit, continue to pry the seeds out of the sections, removing any membrane.
2. How to Extract Juice from Pomegranate Seeds
As mentioned above, you can juice the pomegranate seeds by hand— this method is pretty satisfying. But if you don’t have the time, you can always use either a juicer or blender.
- With a juicer: feed the seeds into the chute and collect the juice in a pitcher. The juice will come out a bit cloudy, but the taste remains the same.
- With a blender: put the seeds in a blender and pulse a couple of times to release the juice. Strain the juice through a fine sieve, press the arils (seed covering) with a spatula to extract any remaining juice.
How Long Does It Last?
Since our pomegranate blueberry juice recipe is made from scratch and doesn’t contain any preservatives, it’ll only last 48 hours.
That being said, it would be best to drink it all up within the first 2 hours. After this period of time, the quality will decline quickly and the juice won’t be as delicious.
If you want to retain and prolong the quality of the juice, you need to store it properly. Pour the drink into a bottle or mason jar, seal it tight, and put it in the fridge.
Storing the drink inside an airtight container can slow down the process of oxidation. This helps keep the juice fresh for a while longer.
