This easy berry banana smoothie recipe creates a delicious, healthy beverage with only a few ingredients. Simply throw everything into the blender, and a delicious smoothie will be ready in the blink of an eye.
Is Berry Banana Smoothie Healthy?
This berry banana smoothie recipe is healthy, and here’s why:
Berries contain anthocyanins, ellagic acid, and resveratrol, among other bioactive phytochemical antioxidants. Along with protecting your cells, these plant compounds (phytochemicals) may also reduce your risk of infection.
In this smoothie, bananas provide digestive, cardiovascular, and weight-loss benefits. A medium banana contains around 10% of the daily value (DV) for potassium.
Potassium is an essential mineral and electrolyte for your body. Increased dietary potassium may bring positive effects to your health such as lowering blood pressure and reducing the risk of heart disease.
In addition, we took advantage of the natural sweetness of ripe bananas to reduce the use of added sugar. This also helps cut down the total calories per serving to only 185.

Main Ingredients
Let’s take a look at the ingredients we’re using in today’s berry banana smoothie recipe:
- Assorted berries: Today, we’re using strawberries and blueberries solely. There are several other types of berries that you can use for this recipe; we will discuss them later.
- Bananas: As always, we recommend using ripe bananas for smoothies.
- Honey: Although ripe bananas are already sweet, we still needed a touch of honey to balance the tartness of all the berries in this recipe.
- Yogurt: Adding a touch of tangy, rich Greek yogurt will make your smoothie taste just like a milkshake.
- Mints: We used a couple of spearmint sprigs to garnish the drink, but you can use any other type of mint you prefer.
- And ice.
Types of Berries You Can Use
As mentioned, we’re using strawberries and blueberries. If you have any other types of berries to hand, feel free to add them.
Blackberries, raspberries, or mulberries, for example, present a great addition to your smoothie.
If you like smoothies with a thicker consistency, we suggest freezing all of the berries at least four hours in advance. Blending smoothies with frozen fruits is a great trick to give the drink a higher viscosity while ensuring it stays cold and fresh for longer.
Can You Use Frozen Berries for This Smoothie?
Yes, you can. As mentioned, frozen strawberries and blueberries work well in this smoothie.
In fact, you can use frozen bananas, too. Since all of these fruits are soft, even when frozen solid, they can be smoothly pulverized in a regular kitchen blender with ease.
How Long Does This Smoothie Last?
We recommend drinking this berry banana smoothie within the first two hours of preparation for the best quality.
If you don’t intend to consume it immediately, place it in a bottle with a tight-fitting lid or airtight container and seal it. It will keep for a day or two if refrigerated.
