How To Make Watermelon Juice Without A Juicer
Sometimes, the thought of cleaning your 4-part juicer after using it can really be discouraging. The good news is, you don’t need a juicer to follow this watermelon juice recipe.
One way to make fruit juice involves cheesecloth, a blender, and a large bowl. You blend the fruit, pour it into the cheesecloth, and start squeezing the juice out into the large bowl. This can be used for all fruits. It’s also really convenient since you’ll only have to clean the blender, the bowl, and the cheesecloth– 3 items (2 of which are most likely dishwasher friendly).
It’s even easier with watermelon; you actually don’t need the blender at all. Cut the watermelon into cubes, place them in the cheesecloth, and use your hand to squeeze the juice out. Easy, fun, potentially therapeutic, and hassle-free.
To get the fragrance of mint leaves, place them in a glass and mash them with a cocktail muddler. If this isn’t available in your kitchen, a spoon will work too.

A significant amount of what you taste in watermelon seems to be water and sugar, however this refreshing fruit also has certain benefits for the body.
1. Is Watermelon Juice Good For You?
When compared to other fruits like apple, pineapple, or orange, watermelon offers less nutrients. Aiming to meet micronutrient RDIs by drinking lots of watermelon juice would be impractical, but if you prefer its taste, watermelon juice is healthy and hydrating.
One cup of watermelon cubes (about 154 grams) contains up to 21% of vitamin C’s reference daily intake (RDI), 18% of vitamin A’s RDI, and small amounts of other micronutrients. Vitamins A and C are antioxidants, which can help the body fight off inflammation in the cells.
Also, eating watermelon raw (or drinking its juice) is a nice, tasty way of meeting the RDI of water while not having to drink exclusively water.
2. Watermelon Juice For Weight Loss
Watermelon can help you lose weight, despite its high sugar content. Watermelon has fiber and a lot of water, so you’ll feel full with fewer calories consumed.
Watermelon juice, on the other hand, doesn’t help much with losing weight. By juicing the fruit, we strip away most of its fiber content. This leaves us with a refreshing drink low in calories, but also doesn’t create the illusion of being full.

1. Watermelon Smoothie
Instead of juicing, you can blend watermelon to make a refreshing smoothie. It’s really quick: cube your melon, place them in a blender with some mint leaves, and blend away. Serve it with ice.
2. Watermelon Slushie
Slushies are cool and all, but they are also nothing but sugar. With watermelon on-hand, you can have a vitamin-packed slushie right at home.
First, cut your melon into cubes, and freeze them for at least 2 hours. Then place them in a blender with some water, mint leaves, sugar, and blend away. No ice, no additives, still flavorful with a great slushie texture.
When you freeze the melons, be careful not to place all of the cubes in a bowl unless you want a large chunk of melon cubes to come out. Place them on a tray, and spread them out so that there is space in-between the cubes. To remove them easily after freezing, we recommend you first line the tray with parchment paper.

3. Watermelon Sorbet
Sorbet is a denser version of slushies, which looks really similar to ice cream, yet contains no dairy. It is a frozen dessert, often made by pureeing frozen fruits along with flavorings.
To make watermelon sorbet, blend the frozen watermelon cubes (without added water) with a food processor. Since watermelon is sweet enough, there is no need to add sugar.
Does Watermelon Milk Cause Stomach Upset?
Although it sounds strange, watermelon milk is not a made-up recipe. It’s a real recipe in Taiwan, and many people seem to enjoy it. The thing is, some also report having an upset stomach after consuming the drink.
Knowing everyone’s different biologically, we turned to science to see if there is research on this matter. Unfortunately, we failed to find any related research, maybe because this is not a serious matter.
For now, what we can say is trying watermelon milk is a bit like an adventurous experience. Your stomach may either not react to the drink at all, develop a little bit of gas, or go crazy. I think it’s delicious, but if you’ve never tried it before, maybe wait until you have an open evening.

Watermelon Juice Recipe
- 12 oz watermelon cubed (should yield 1.5 cups juice)
- 4 leaves spearmint fresh
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 cups ice
- Process mint leaves and watermelon in the juicer.
- Add sugar to the juice and serve with ice. Simple as that!
